Happy PA Week!

It's PA week! We're running around all week doing some crazy things to promote the profession and to promote healthy life styles. Lots of fun! Also great distractions from our 2 tests this week.

Week 4

Thoughts on more classes and being involved

First Test Results: Good?

I'll have a video with some reactions soon, but here's what happened to me:

I took the written test and pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. Then I ate lunch and took the lab practical. I thought I rocked that easily. Turns out I had it backwards. Written test I did great, lab I did ok.

The funny thing was, after the results came out we talked about it amongst ourselves, but not the same way we did in undergrad. The competitive edge, that cutting/pushing ahead aspect, was missing. Everyone was helping each other and not really worried about the exact grade. I love it. Once you're in PA school, your classmates and colleagues, not competitors.

First test

It's Impossible to know if I'm ready or not. It's impossible to say if I'm keeping up enough or not. I'll find out Thursday. 

FIRST WEEK DONE!

We made it through the first week, wrapping up with library time then a BBQ. Here's a few of my classmates sharing their thoughts.

Orientation and White Coat Ceremony

I made it through orientation! I've been cloaked with a white coat! School starts Monday for real!

My first post as a PA-S!

I've been waiting for this day for quite some time. My wife has been waiting a little longer. It's finally here: my professional training has begun.

Well, almost begun, kind of started, in a way. Next week is orientation followed by our white coat ceremony. That will officially matriculate us into the class of 2016. This week, a few colleagues (I get to use that word now) and I are taking a PreMatriculation class. It's a preview of what an actual lecture is like, plus a chance for us to meet each other and find our way around.

We're a very diverse class, with a wide mix of demographics, but we all showed up with that grin on our face. That smile that said "I made it! You did to! Let's get going!" I still hav mine.

Unlike my other blog, this will be presented more often in first person, and more often in video. I'd love to hear from anyone out there, especially if there is something you'd like me to cover. Email, comment, or whatever. Let me know how I can help.
